Google Ads vs Meta Ads: Which Is Better for Getting Leads for Your Business?

A plumbing company and a furniture showroom could spend the same amount on advertising and need completely different campaigns. Someone with a leaking pipe is likely to search for help. Someone furnishing a home might notice a dining table while browsing Instagram.

Before choosing a platform, ask where your customers start looking. Then work out what you can afford to spend winning a customer.

Google Search: when someone is already looking

Search ads can put your business in front of people searching for a product or service. Here, we’re comparing Search campaigns; Google Ads offers other formats.

If you repair air conditioners, a search such as “AC repair near me” gives you a clear clue about the requirement. Send that person to your repair page, with service details and a clear way to call.

A search isn’t a guaranteed sale. Irrelevant searches, unclear pricing information or a broken enquiry form can waste the opportunity. Check whether people search for your service and what those clicks might cost.

Meta: when seeing the offer starts the conversation

Facebook and Instagram give businesses room to show products, demonstrate services and introduce offers through images and video.

Imagine a furniture showroom displaying a dining table in a small apartment. That advertisement can help someone picture it in their own home, even if they weren’t searching for furniture at that moment.

Show the table’s size, price or delivery details. Give someone enough information to decide whether to ask about it. Meta instant forms can collect details inside the platform, but a submission alone doesn’t tell you whether someone is ready to buy.

Which should you start with?

Start by checking relevant search demand and likely click costs. If customers already search for your service, Google Search is worth testing. If they need to see a product in use before wanting it, consider Meta.

Then check the numbers. Fifty form submissions producing no orders may be worth less than ten enquiries producing two profitable customers.

Decide what you can spend winning a customer, based on your margins. Test one offer and record spending, suitable enquiries and sales before expanding.

Name the person handling enquiries before launching. Include agency fees when calculating costs.
